Job Description: Executive Director of Beacon Ministries
Position Purposes:
The Beacon Ministries Director provides strategic leadership and operational oversight to the ministry in strict alignment with established ecumenical bylaws. Serving as the primary administrative leader for the clearinghouse, the Director is responsible for mobilizing local congregations, coordinating responses to individual and project based community needs, and cultivating collaborative partnerships among churches, social service agencies, volunteers and clients. This position maintains direct supervisory authority over the Furniture Coordinator and operates under the governance and direction of the Board of Directors.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: Execute ministry operation in strict compliance with ecumenical bylaws.
Operations and program management: Organize and engage local congregations to participate actively in ministry initiatives. Cultivate and maintain formal relationships with member churches, social service agencies, and local community.
Manage clearinghouse operations and phone center to meet individual assistance requests and project specific community needs.
Supervise, evaluate and support the performance of the Furniture Coordinator and Bookkeeper.
Oversee the recruitment, training and placement of volunteers.
Ensure respectful, efficient, and equitable service delivery to all ministry clients.
Financial Management: Disburse funds, write checks, and manage overall ministry financial accounts.
Prepare, present and monitor the annual operational budget.
Process payroll and prepare required state and federal tax forms accurately.
Effective Communication: Deliver highly effective verbal and written communications, including formal presentations to groups and the Board. Report operational progress, challenges, and strategic outcomes directly to the Board of Directors.
Technical Proficiency: Utilize Microsoft Office tools - including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access - for data management and reporting.
Job Requirements:
Experience in planning, launching and implementing community forcused programs.
Able to oversee general financial accounts, operational budgets, and payroll processing.
Demonstrated success in volunteer recruitment, mobilization of local congregations and cross sector relationship building.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strict commitment to maintaining absolute confidentiality regarding client cases, financial records, donor data, and internal ministry information.
Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite
Mission driven possessing a genuine heart for the impoverished an da deep seated passion for serving marginalized populations with dignity.
Proven ability to work interdependently, demonstrating strong initiative, time management, and problem solving skills.
Education:
Bachelor's degree preferred: equivalent experience welcome.
